From Ayodele Samuel, Lagos

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Accountant General of Lagos State, Akin Ambode yesterday officially  declared his intention to vie for the governorship seat of Lagos State in 2015.

Ambode declaring his intention when he opened his campaign office in Gbagada area of the state, expressed gratitude to all who have supported his ambition.

He charged his supporters not to fight during the primaries.

He set up a committee to carry his message across to the people at the grassroots, saying that he would govern Lagos in a manner everyone would be proud of.

Ambode said he would build a new level of leadership that would eradicate poverty in Lagos State.

Meanwhile a House of Representatives member, James Faleke, while assuring Ambode of his support, said he had the right to support whoever he wished despite the fact that many aspirants were vying to get the nod of the APC to fly the party’s banner in next year’s governorship election.

“So many aspirants are running but I decided to come here. I was not forced; I have followed the good work of Ambode at the grassroots level.

“He is a team player; he is a man whose yes is yes. He does not believe in punishing anyone who makes mistake but prefers to correct the person. He has humbled himself and God will promote him. He will become the governor in Lagos State.

“I will deliver Ikeja, Ojodu and Onigbongbo for him and he owes me good governance. It will be a government of continuity. Those who engage in a campaign of calumny should desist from such,” he said.

Faleke also urged APC supporters not to fight during the forthcoming primaries.
