The police yesterday arraigned a 30-year-old labourer, Ibrahim Bashir, in a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Life Camp, Abuja, for mischief.

The accused, who resides at Sahara Gates, Gwarinpa, Abuja, is standing trial for mischief before Senior Magistrate, Mr. Zubairu Mohammed.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Salihu Mohammed, told the court that Mr. Ifeayi Ebirilem of Kuchi Benna village, Gwarinpa, Abuja lodged a complaint against the accused at Gwarinpa Police Station on May 15.

Mohammed alleged that on the said date, at about 7 a.m. while the complainant was about to convey labourers to a building site with his truck, the accused intentionally broke his windscreen.

He said the accused stood at a distance from the truck, picked a stone and threw it at the windscreen of the vehicle, breaking it.

The prosecutor said that during police investigation the accused could not give a satisfactory account of his action.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge, and the Senior Magistrate admitted him to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Mohammed said the surety must have a reasonable means of livelihood, with a traceable and verifiable work address.

He said the surety should be resident within the jurisdiction of the court, and adjourned the matter to May 26. (NAN)
