The Speaker of Kogi state House of Assembly, Alhaji Momoh-Jimoh Lawal has charged the legislature to uphold patriotism, statesmanship and commitment to public good to justify their mandate.
Lawal made the call yesterday in Lokoja in his welcome address to the members on resumption from recess on the floor of the house during its plenary.
He urged the members to sustain the zeal, enthusiasm and the spirit of service with which they started the journey three years ago, to enable them end well.
“As vanguards of democracy, we should be justly proud of our collective service to Democracy and to the good people of the state”, the Speaker said.
The speaker said that the house was resuming plenary to commence in earnest, the last lap of their tenure, adding that it was time to consolidate on the gains of the past three years in the quest to contribute to the progress and development of the state.
“We have worked hard to provide effective and efficient policies to grow the economy and to consolidate the transformation agenda of the executive.
“We have collaborated and worked in harmony with the executive to appropriate and warehouse dividends of democracy to our people while upholding the constitution, the Rule of Law and Due Process”, he said.
The speaker urged them to sustain the tempo and commended the principal officers, members and staff of the house for their support and cooperation to ensure good governance in the state.
