One of the leading estate developers in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Alhaji Kabiru Haruna Saraha, on wednesday, joined the race for the Kogi state governorship slated for November 16 with a pledge to turn around the fortunes of the state for the better if given the opportunity.

Saraha, who made the promise shortly after obtaining the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, national secretariat, Abuja,  told newsmen that his success in the world of business stands him in good stead to bring back the glories of old to the North Central state.

According to him, Kogi deserves a fresh start, away from the sad realities of the past four years which have seen the people groaned in pain and penury owing to what he termed, the poor stewardship of the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration in the state.

Accompanied by a mammoth crowd of supporters and political associates, the man behind the popular Sahara Estate, said a level play field is all he is asking for,  stressing that he is ready to go the whole hog to realize his dream

He said: “We have gone round the state to sell our vision to our people and they are behind our aspiration to make Kogi better. We have the mineral resources and human capital to take the state to new heights.

“Our plans are robust and they centre on human capacity building, agricultural revolution, tourism, job creation and poverty alleviation.”

On whether the presence in the race of immediate past governor, Captain Idris Wada and Abubakar Ibrahim, son of the former governor, Ibrahim Idris was not an obstacle to his quest to lead the state;

Saraha dismissed this with a wave of the hand,  insisting that his blueprint for a new Kogi is second to none.

He continued: “we are in this race for the collective interest of our people. It is about our delegates who will settle for the aspirant of their choice. Being a former governor or the son of one is immaterial.

Let me state for the sake of emphasis that I am in the race to make Kogites proud of their state. We won’t fail Insha Allah”.
