Kaduna State Governor Dr. Mukhtar Ramalan Yero has condemned the attack on innocent citizens in Ambe-Madaki Village of Sanga Local Government Area and Murder of the District Head of Zangang in Atakar Chiefdom, Mr Yohanna Daniel Shinkut describing the acts as ‘devilish and unwarranted’.
The governor also said enough is enough as his administration would not sit to see its people being killed.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Mallam Ahmed Maiyaki, Yero said new wave of attacks in Southern Kaduna are a clear indications that some desperate persons are bent on creating confusion in the state for their selfish gains.
He said “enough is enough as government is ready to take decisive measures to protect the lives and properties of its citizens. “We are going to re-strategise in our quest to proactively guard our communities, this wanton shedding of innocent blood of our citizens is enough,” he said.
He commiserated with families of all those killed in the attacks while assuring the entire people of the state that “security personnel are presently on the hills of those behind this dastardly act with a view to ensuring that they are brought to justice.
Governor Yero called on people in the affected communities to remain calm as government has taken measures to restore law and order, adding that “security surveillance has been intensified in the affected communities to provide adequate security for the people.”
He said government has also directed the full payment of medical bills of all injured victims while the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) has also been directed to provide immediate assistance to those affected by the ugly incidence.
Gunmen had on Friday at about 8pm attacked the chiefdom in Kaura local government of Kaduna state and killed the traditional ruler Mr Yohanna Shinkut.
The traditional ruler, according to reports was on his way back from a neighboring village, Manchock, to his palace.
His attackers ambushed the royal father, shot his car tyre, and when the vehicle stopped moving, they then moved closer to him and shot him on the chest at close range. The gunmen were also said to have exchanged fire with the policemen who had gone to convey the remains of the late district head.
Meanwhile, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has provided relief support to the families of 10 killed and 6 injured victims in Tattaura village of Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state.
North West Zonal Coordinator, Alhaji Musa Ilallah who was represented by Zonal Head of Relief and Rehabilitation, Dahiru Yusuf led other officials of NEMA and SEMA Kaduna for the direct distribution of the relief items to the affected victims.
The name of those who lost their lives during the attack are Anche Ishaku 25, Julius Hamza 28, Yakubu Ambi 58, Joel Ambo 54, Ishaya Anche 32.
Others are Jonathan Aja 50, Francis Eze 40, Monday Samson 17, Musa Ngbo 40 and Ada Sabo 30. While the Injured victims are Francis Likita 45, Ogu Frank 21, Sambo Ambo 45, Godwin Caleb 22, Ekene Peter 30 and Bano Iliya 33.
The Relief Materials approved by the federal government and distributed among the victims are 100 bags each of Rice, Maize and Guinea Corn, 20 bags of sugar, 50 cartons of Indomie, 20 kegs each of Vegetable and palm oil.
