A 30-year old pregnant wife, Suwaiba Adili of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, has been rescued from the hand of kidnappers by officials of Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa State.

The state’s commandant of NSCDC, Dr. Muhammad Gidado Fari, said the victim was kidnapped by unknown bandit while travelling from Kebbi State to visit a relative being hospitalised at Usman Danfodio University Teaching Hospital in Sokoto State.

According to him, the woman was intercepted in Gumel local government area of the state when his men on patrol suspected the car she was abducted into and trailed it on the highway, adding that the kidnappers, realising that they were being trailed by the corps, quickly dropped her and flee.

Dr. Muhammad further said that the devastated pregnant wife was taken to the state’s command after she was freed, adding that it was at the station that she regained consciousness and narrated how she was abducted.

He stated that the mystery behind the abduction is yet to be ascertained, noting that the motive might be on ritual mission.

The commandant added that the victim had since been reunited with her relatives after they were contacted through her phone.

He also called on the general public in the state to monitor movements of their loved ones to avoid being kidnapped by unscrupulous groups especially as the election period is being approached.
