A Kenyan Diplomat in Nigeria, Carlos Maluta, has bagged the title of Enyi Ndigbo, bestowed on him by the Eze Ndigbo of Lagos state, Eze Uche Dimgba, during this year’s celebration of Igbo yam festival that took place at Ifako area of Lagos State over the weekend.
Maluta, who is the Minister Counselor in the Kenya High Commission, commended the gesture of the Igbo in Lagos saying, Nigeria and his home country of Kenya share so many things in common.
He was speaking after receiving the traditional title of “Enyi Ndigbo” literally meaning Friend of Igbos, and expressed delight at the honour accorded him Maluta remarked that the bi-lateral relations that exist between Kenyan and Nigeria is age-long and that apart from the fact that both countries share similar culture and tradition, they are also unique in their various regions on the continent of Africa, stressing that either by the hand of fate or nature they also coincidentally share similar security challenges.
He noted that the hospitable nature of the Nigeria people towards visitors from across the world is also readily noticeable with the people of Kenya who incidentally all the year round, receive visitors who are attracted to the country by the presence of wildlife and other beautiful experiences of note.
He called on Blacks in Africa and in the Diaspora to always uphold the ideals of the Black race and should not limit the potential God bestowed on them Dignitaries from all walks of life that include the Ambassador of Kenyan in Nigeria Tom Amolo, graced the occasion.
