The Managing Director and Chief Executive of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KEDC) Malam Idris Mohammed has been conferred with the prestigious West African Power Industry Convention (WAPIC) Award by the sub-regional body over the weekend.
The Convention is the umbrella body of the major actors in the electricity industry in West Africa sub-region.
The Program Director of the Convention, Mrs. Irene Ochem, in a statement made available to newsmen, said, “We acknowledge and applaud the contributions of the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer to the programs of WAPIC.
The Award is in recognition his invaluable contributions to the development of electricity industry in West Africa and African continent as a whole.
“The important inputs of the managing director and chief executive in the development of the program have been very much appreciated and WAPIC is looking forward to the great benefit that will come out of the presentations, discussions and pre-conference and technical workshops which the MD/CEO shall play a profiled role.
Malam Mohammed who was described as one of the power industry thought leaders and influencers in West Africa and in the African continent as a whole, was also appointed as a member of WAPIC Governing Council.
“This membership in to the governing council also grants him an automatic membership to the Advisory Board of the Africa Utility Week (AUW) and Clean Power Africa (CPA) event scheduled for Cape Town, South Africa in May 2015. It also entitles him to a profiled role of chairperson, moderator, speaker or panelist in one or more conference sessions of WAPIC, she said.
