Kebbi: Rice farmer seeks N12m assistance to undergo kidney transplant

As a matter of urgency, an appeal has gone to kebbi State Government and individuals to assist a 40 years old rice farmer, Mukhtar Abdulkadir who has to undergo kidney transplanting with a surgery estimated to gulp N12 million.
A medical report signed by Consultant Nephrologists ,Dr Tuko Tari of Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Birnin Kebbi, said Abdulkadir is being managed for end stage kidney disease and has been unable to sustain adequate maintenance hemodialysis which for now he requires to have twice weekly.
Tari explained further that the patient also requires to be on antihypertensive medications, enythropoestin therapy as well as other supportive medication. This treatment is estimated to cost him about N65,000 weekly.
He further added that, “I hereby solicit on his behalf to the wealthy individuals to assist him, the patient would definitively benefit from willing to refer him to a kidney transplant centre in the country, this however is estimated at N12,000,000 only”
Narrating his ordeal to newsmen, the patient Mukhtar Abdulkadir said “am suffering from end stage kidney disease whereby both of my kidney have failed, I really need help, I used to work but for the last six months I have been unable to go to my rice farm because of my deteriorating health condition”.
Abdulkadir explained that he can’t bear the dialysis expense of N65,000 weekly, ‘’my relatives ,friends and siblings have been supporting my dialysis cost”, while the doctor said transplant is the best recommended treatment for him.
‘’I am hopeful for a transplant as my physicians and transplant team feel that I am still medically strong enough to undergo the transplant, I am calling on government, religious organizations, Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) philanthropist’s and others to come to my aid.
