In its efforts to improve the leaving standard of its indigenes, Kebbi State Government yesterday released the sum of N2.4billion to support the vulnerable people in the State.
Addressing newsmen y at the Government House Birnin Kebbi, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Aisha Maikurata, said that the money is part of the State lawmakers’ constituency projects.
She explained that the present administration is ready to provide dividends of democracy to its people and reduce poverty among the teeming youth populationin the state.
She said her Ministry would also be involved in executing projects in 11 local government areas identified by the House of Assembly members”.
The permanent secretary said that the aim of the projects is to empower farmers, widows, orphans, youth and women across the eleven local government areas.
“Recently, Kebbi State Government provided incentives to 350 women in tomatoe business across the State. That is among other various economic empowerment programmes initiated in the state in which they received N30,000 each, she added..
