Kebbi PDP dep guber candidate urges politicians to ensure peace

From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi

Deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State, Senator Umar Tafida has called on politicians across the country to play the game by the rules as well as have the interest of the larger electorate at heart, stressing that that is the only way to ensure that dividends of democracy would spread across the country.

Speaking with newsmen in his country home in Argungu, the PDP deputy governorship candidate noted that unless politicians as well those seeking for elective positions eschew differences and collectively work towards salvaging the citizens from their plight, then the aims of the country’s experiment with democracy would not be achieved.

He observed that many people were only vying for positions with the sole aim of enriching themselves without taking into cognizance that the mandate was meant to serve the generality of the populace.

Tafida, further stressed that both members of the PDP and APC were the same kind of people that are defecting from one party to another, as according to him, “Frankly, some are leaving a particular party simply because their selfish aims were not met and tomorrow they will flee away if similar incident occurs.”

He therefore enjoined all politicians to shun any act capable of derailing the democratic process while calling on the youth to desist from causing chaos and confusion during and after the elections.

He expressed confidence that the PDP would coast home to victory in the forthcoming general elections.
