In its efforts to curtail the menace of Alimajiri students in the streets, yesterday Kebbi State Government has said that N900m would be disbursed to the various schools of Almajari schools across the state.
Addressing the members of the Alimajaris leader weekend at the Presidential Lodge Birnin Kebbi, the Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Abubkar Bagudu said that the money will be disbursed through the Ministry of Basic Education adding that his administration is ready to stop the Alimajari beggars and ensure sanity on them.
He explained further that the money will also be assist their mallams (Teachers) and pupils as well as the establishing toilet toAlimajari schools for proper upbringing across the State.
The Governor urged parents and guardians to enroll their wards and children into schools, assuring that government would support and encourage them to excel in all filed.
In her response, the wife of the Kebbi State Governor and the founder of the MALPAI called “Almajir initiative” Hajiya Aisha Bagudu said that the aimed of the NGO is to assist the less privileged, orphans and Almajiri to a better life, which she described as among the best programme of human development.
She also express appreciation and gratitude about the support and encouragement of her husband to the success of the scheme.
In his remarked, the Hon. Commissioner of Basic Education Alhaji Muhammadu Magawata Aliero said that the programme of Almajiri system introduced by the Governor wife has been accepted widely in the state which six schools have so far been established.
He added that each schools would receive between one and three million naira to assist them improve in their facilities and provide quality learning.
