The Kebbi State Governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has donated the N30 million naira to the state branch of Nigerian legion as part of activities to mark the 2020 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration.
Bagudu who announced the donation at Government House Birnin Kebbi on Thursday said in view of the sacrifice made by the legionnaires in protecting the country, they deserve to be regarded in high esteem.
He acknowledged that the Nigerian Legion in Kebbi State has provided good leadership and partnership with the Kebbi State Government and prayed for the falling heroes.
“Kebbi is indebted to security agencies and the legioniers , we are thankful to what they are doing ,we will continue to partner with them.” He said.
Bagudu said the legioniers can play vital role in community policing because of their experience and capability, he therefore directed all Permanent Secretaries and head of MDAs, to assess areas of collaboration at different levels.
Earlier, the chairman of the Kebbi State branch of Nigerian Legion, Alhaji Umar Garba thanked the governor for his support and appealed to Government of Kebbi State to donate plot of land for the association to build its Secretariat.
He explained that the aim of celebrating the armed forces remembrance day was to remember the falling heroes who lost their lives in various wars and solicit for assistance from Government at all levels as well as spirited individuals in the society to cater for the families of the falling heroes, widows and members of the legion.
