The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps RS10. 2 Kebbi Sector Command: Corps Commander Ebenezer Abayomi Asaniyan, has directed all the drivers of vehicles to abide by the ideals of social distancing when carrying passengers.
He stated this yesterday in a press statement signed by the Public Education Officer of the command Mr. Uko Okore Uko. He said that this is to ensure that the health of commuters are safeguarded if there is anyone who is infected in the vehicle.
He therefore empowered all the Unit Commands and Outposts under his jurisdiction to ensure that vehicles sighted to be overloaded are immediately impounded.
The Sector Commander noted that “in situations where the driver evades arrest by not stopping for the patrol team, “a flying ticket “ will be issued to the erring driver. The Command will trace and arrest such an offender for prosecution “. He said.
We will do all we could within our purview to support the efforts of the Federal Government to curtail the spread of Coronavirus” he added.
The Sector Public Education Officer Superintendent Route Commander Uko O Uko said the directive is with immediate effect as “we cannot afford to have this deadly disease in our State”.
He then called on the Transport Unions, Organized Labor and well meaning people of Kebbi State to practise social distancing when traveling for the good of all.
