The Kebbi State Governor, Sen. Atiku Bagudu Abubakar has awarded the supply of water contract to the Chinese company worth N898million for the expansion and rehabilitation of Dukku Dam.
Briefing newsmen, weekend, while conducting a team of journalists round the project site, the Chairman Due Process, Mohammed Sirajo Garba told journalists that the aim of the project was to ensure constant water supply in the state.
He explained further that the Dam which was constructed since 1979 was due for expansion and rehabilitation.
Garba said that, about 800 water pipe would be used for the reconstruction while over 300 pipes have been procured with capacity of one million gallons.
He added that, the life span of the contract was one year six months and if completed would reduce the suffering of water supply being face by the people of the state.
“People of kebbi state are going to enjoy the drinking water if they completed this project, the governor awarded the contract to ensure that people would not suffer of water as well as also to curb any killer diseases in the state,” he added.
In his remark, the Project Manager, Mr. Wei Meng thanked the kebbi state government for giving them the job, assured them of quality job and the completion of the project at the stipulated time.
