The All Progressive Congress (APC) Kebbi State Chapter has suspended Alhaji Shafiu Abubakar Zauro who is a Domestic Personal assistant to the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Mallami.
Addressing Press Conference at the weekend at Zauro town, the party ward chairman, Alhaji Umar Bakara Zane, who was represented by Alhaji Atiku B. Zaurom, said that Shafiu who is the DPS to the Minister accused the Governor for diverting the Local Government fund to his personal account and two of his wives accounts.
He explained further that all the allegations were false, adding that there was need for Shafiu to verify the issue before go on air.
“Shafiu who was on life programmes at Kebbi FM Radio station on Friday, accused the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, of diverting the Local Government joint account and State fund to his wives accounts and his families, saying further that no any meaningful capital project was executed in the State”, he added.
Shafiu who is also aspiring for the Birnin Kebbi Local Government Council chairman, has been suspended from the party, and ordered to write an apology letter to the Governor.
Speaking earlier, the secretary in charge of the Local Government Joint Account, Alhaji Kabir Bako denied the allegations against the Government, adding that there is nothing like diverting the Local Government funds to a personal account.
“All the transactions were genuine, the Governor has been fair to the local government chairmen by not touching their funds”, he said.
While speaking to our correspondents on phone, the accused person, Hon. Shafiu Zauro, said that the party has no right to suspend him, adding that this is a democratic era and that he has the right to free speech.
“Which Constitution says they should suspend me, the party should hear from my own side, they should constitute a committee to investigate the matter, but they did not do so, now they said they have suspended me from the party, anyway I am still a staunch member of the party, I have not received any letter yet”, he added.
