As National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) 2014 Batch ‘B’ orientation course across the federation begins next week, the Kaduna state government has handed over two renovated female hostels that were gutted by fire in February 2013 to the Kaduna Directorate yesterday.
The state Commissioner of Youth and Sport, Bashir Subair Usman, who performed the official handing over at NYSC permanent orientation camp, Kaduna, said the renovation cost the State Government the sum of N15m.
He added that arrangement has been concluded by the state government to carry out general renovation of the camp immediately after the orientation course, in compliance with NYSC Act.
The commissioner further disclosed that the slow pace at which public projects were moving in the state was not unconnected to the insecurity,
“The huge amount of money that would have been used on such projects was been spent on security; but let me assure the incoming corps members of adequate protection through their stay in the state.
Receiving the keys from the commissioner, the new State Coordinator, Mr. Hillary Nasamu on behalf of the scheme expressed gratitude to the government and people of the state for positive responses the scheme has been receiving, promising that the two hostels would be judiciously used and maintained.
