Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina state has pledged to ease ways of doing business in the state.
Masari was speaking during the Katsina state Day at the 41st Kaduna international Trade Fair in Kaduna.
The Governor assured that the present APC administration would continue to make available all the necessary incentives that could unlock the investment potentials in the state to attract investors for optimum development.
He therefore requested investors to take advantage that katsina state is known for agriculture, solid minerals, tourism and special services.
Alhaji Aminu Masari expressed the belief that this year’s theme of the trade fair, which is “unlocking Nigeria’s Economic potentials through regional integration”, is not only timely and suitable but captures the sentiment and commitment of Katsina state government to collaborate with other states to develop and solve common challenges.
The Governor noted that the current challenges facing Nigeria and the states could be addressed through proper harnessing of resources for industrialization.
He announced that Katsina state government is focusing on the development of necessary infrastructures for making katsina state a real hub for industrialization and commerce.
He announced that the present administration had earmarked about 800 hectares of land for the establishment of International standard industrial
Park at Katsina for which work had already commenced.
After completion, Governor Masari said the park would provide industrial plots, independent power, and water supply, housing accommodation, hotels, schools, hospital and state of the art communication, facilities for industry and commerce.
Governor Aminu Masari commended the federal government through federal ministry of trade and commerce for concluding arrangements to establish an integrated textile Garment Park at Funtua.
This,he said would no doubt develop value chain of cotton, which katsina state is the number one producer in Nigeria.
The Governor revealed that the state government had identified sesame seed, Hibiscus and Tigernut and sought as well as secures the commitment of NEXIM Bank in providing a guarantee platform for export of the three items.
Earlier in a welcome address, the commissioner for commerce, industry and Tourism, Alhaji Muntari Gidado Abdulkadir announced that the special day at the trade fair marks a new beginning for katsina state in consolidating policy focus and achievements recorded in the first term of APC administration in the state.
Alhaji Muntari Abdulkadir commended Governor Masari for the support to activities of ministry of commerce and two of its parastatals, KIPDECO and KIPA towards unlocking the resources endowment for investment with the requisite infrastructural compliment and easing of processes of doing business and investment in the state.
He announced that the ministry and its Agencies had been collaborating with bodies such as Katsina chamber of commerce, National Association of small scale Enterprises, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency among others to promote commerce and industrial ventures in the state.
He therefore enjoin potential investors to pick area of interest for engagement to actualize business ideas in katsina state.
Alhaji Muntari Abdulkadir further invited investors to acquire majority stakes to revitalize kankara kaolin and Danja sugar factory.
He also spoke at length on the potentials of tourism industry in katsina state for investors to pick up interest and help to develop the sector in the state.
He commended Governor Masari for being the only civilian chief executive of katsina state to attend special day at the trade fair.
The chairman of the organizing committee of the trade fair, Dr Farida Mohibba Dankaka expressed gratitude to katsina state government for always participating along with Local governments throughout the over four decades that the fair is being organized.
She advised investors to acquint themselves with the fact that Katsina state is a hub of investment potentials in the country.
The Deputy Chairman of katsina chamber of commerce, Alhaji Mustapha Abubakar kutawa in a vote of thanks showered encomiums on the Governor and the state ministry of commerce for the support to the chamber at all times
Governor Aminu Bello Masari took time off to visit not only katsina state pavilion but other shades to observe the display of economic viability of the state.
