Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has disclosed that the government has contributed the sum of N350, 000, 000.00 million for the successful nutrition programme in the state.
The governor who made the disclosure while presenting the 2018 budget proposal to the state House of Assembly, said the government was committed to the health of children in the state through the nutrition programme.
He added that the state government through the Department of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with UNICEF had signed a letter of agreement for the procurement of 15, 000 cartons of RUTF to be administered to malnourished children across the acute malnutrition centres across the state.
Masari said UNICEF will provide 15, 000 cartons to the state government as its contribution, which he said shows that the state government will at the end of the day have 30,000 cartons for distribution.
He said that the government through the ministry of health had effected the renovation of school of nursing Katsina by direct labour at the cost of N15, 477, 000.00 million as a result of which he said government secured full accreditation for the first time.
He added that with the full accreditation of the nursing school the number of intake of students has increased from 50 to 100, disclosing that hospital equipment worth N700 million were procured.
The governor noted that works on the re-modeling of Funtua, Katsina and Daura General Hospitals were on-going while contract for the re-modeling of Musawa General Hospital has been awarded.
