The Katsina state government has approved N100 million as assistance to victims of the recent gunmen attack in Faskari, Sabuwa and Safana local government areas.
The decision to assist the victims followed the recommendations of Brig-Gen. Maharazu Tsiga’s committee that stressed the need for the government to offer the financial assistance in the report he submitted to Gov. Ibrahim Shema.
The state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Aliyu said at a press briefing in Katsina yesterday that the assistance would be given to family of those who lost their lives, sustain injury or lost property during the attack.
He said that the state government has appointed him as Chairman of committee for the distribution of the assistance to the beneficiaries in the affected local government areas.
Aliyu said that the gesture was part of the administration’s determination to alleviate the hardships of the victims and enhance their living condition. He assured that the assistance would be given to the affected people with fairness.
The Head of Service also said that the government has approved monthly allowance to Imams of Friday Mosques across the 34 local government areas of the state, stating that the government has recognized 1,821 Imams of Friday mosques in the state that would benefit from the gesture.
Aliyu, who refused to disclose the amount, explained that the allowance would be given under the ministry for religious affairs.
