Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has disclosed that 70 percent of the state health workers will be redeployed to fight the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
Masari made the disclosure yesterday while briefing newsmen on the state preparedness to curtail the spread of the disease in the state.
He noted that the state has set up a special isolation centre for the control of the disease at the Ahmadi Rimi specialists Hospital and the General HospitL Katsina.
The governor advised people in the state to strictly observed health guidelines to avoid coming in contact with the disease.
He therefore cautioned people to avoid large gathering, ensure clean environment and always cover their mouth while sneezing or coughing in the public.
Masari urged the people not to hide suspected victims carrying the virus adding “ if you hide in your house somebody with virus you will be endangering yourself and your family.”
He stressed that all public and private schools in the state will remained close, advising parents and students to obey the directives.
Similarly, the governor has urged people to intensify prayers and seek forgiveness from God as a measure of checking the spread of the disease.
Masari also advised big business premises that attract large customers in the state to make provision for sanitizers and thermometer, disclosing that a committee has been set up by the government to monitor compliance.
