The Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina state has elected new executives to run the affairs of the chapel in the next three years.
Announcing the result of the keenly contested election, the Chairman of the electoral committee, Mr. Agaju Madugba, of The Sun Newspaper said Abdulhamid Sabo Adamu of the Blueprint newspaper emerged Chairman of the chapel with 12 votes defeating, Mr. Andy Asemota of the Leadership newspaper who secured 9 votes.
Other successful contestants are Shehu Danjuma of NAN who emerged unopposed as Vice-chairman, Zubairu Idris also of NAN emerged unopposed as Secretary while Sama’ila Adamu of FRCN Kaduna garnered 18 votes to beat his opponent Mu’awuya Idris of the Triumph Newspaper who got three votes to the position of treasurer.
Similarly, Segun Olaniyan of the Daily Times got 11 votes to beat Abdullahi Tanko of Radio France who got 10 to the position of Financial Secretary.
In a post-election remarks, the new Chairman, Abduhamid Sabo, called for the unity of members of the chapel in moving the union forward.
He said in the election there was no winner or loser as all members are committed to the success of the chapel, adding that welfare of members remained paramount in his agenda.
