Katsina state government has awarded a contract worth N2.9 billion for the rehabilitation and asphalting of a 75-kilometre road, Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Alhaji Abdul’aziz Isa Kaita has disclosed.
Kaita, who made the disclosure at the contract signing ceremony of the project, said the 75-kilometre road stretch, from Sandamu- Rogogo- Babban-Mutum and covers three local government areas of Sandamu, Baure and Zango.
He stated that the 75-kilometre road contract was one of the lengthy road projects embarked upon by the administration of Governor Shema since inception in 2007.
The commissioner noted that the contract, awarded to MotherCat Construction Company, has a completion period of 14 month, which according to him would be completed by March 2016.
Kaita said, with this contract, the total length of roads constructed by the administration from 2007 to date covers 2, 800, adding that the length of the road covers the distance from Lagos to Katsina.
He similarly disclosed that Katsina is the only state capital, with a 48-kilometre Ring Road circling the capital, adding that the administration had performed well in the area of infrastructure development of the state.
