Katsina State Government has awarded contracts worth N15. 6 billion for the execution of various projects aimed at improving the socio-economic welfare of people of the state.
The state Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Engineer Tasi’u Dandagoro who disclosed this yesterday, said the decision for the award of the contracts was reached at the end of Wednesday’s Executive Council meeting of the state.
The commissioner further disclosed that the projects awarded include the asphalt layout on existing nine surface dressed roads, such roads he said included Tudun-Iya- Maska – Dandume road.
Others include Fago-Dannakola-Rijiyar Tsamiya road, Dogon Marke – Yari Bori-Kafur road, Batsari- Jibiya road, Dandume-Sabuwa road and Tama- Bindawa- Charanci road.
The rest are Bakori- Kandarawa, Eka- Kadandani- Kuraye- ‘Yargamji, as well as Mararrabar Sayaya-Sayaya- Mazoji- Tashar Icce roads, adding that the government would this year construct 150 affordable housing units at the cost of N1.932 billion
He added that 38 reinforce concrete line drainages would be constructed in communities that are prone to flood Also briefing the press, the state Commissioner of Health, Hajiya Mariatu Bala Usman announced that a standard medical laboratory would be constructed this year in the state.
She further announced that a substantial number of health workers request to attend in service training in both Nigeria and abroad had been approved by the council.
Similarly the Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Hamza Brodo noted that the government has approved the establishment of faculty of agriculture for Umaru Musa ‘Yar’adua University, Katsina.
He added that the government had approved n242 million for the provision of tat tern tracks at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina
