From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina
The National Youth Vanguard of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Katsina State chapter, has raised alarm that the alleged manipulations and intrigues going on in the party would make it go the way of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC.
Briefing newsmen, yesterday in Katsina, the state chairman of the group, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdo Saulawa, noted that the division and disunity of the APC which was inherited from the defunct CPC was still haunting the party in the state.
According to him, the various plot by some forces in the party to hijack the party machinery through the back door was hampering the conduct of the party congresses in the state.
Saulawa alleged that since the inception of the party in the state, there were efforts by big men at the national and state levels plotting to manipulate the party’s registration drive and the congresses.
He said “some people were even caught red handed with forged materials which the committee responsible for the registration are aware of. The same happened in the ward congresses which was not conducted smoothly in the state”.
The chairman therefore called on the national secretariate of the party to give free hand to the electoral committee to conduct free and fair election in the state, advising the state interim committee of the party not to take side while conducting the exercise.
The group issued a stern warning to the forces sabotaging the progress of the party in the state to retract their steps as according to them “the youth will not allow anybody to play with our intelligence and play a divide and rule tactics”.
