The Kano State Police Command has rescued a 15-year old girl, Aisha Jibrin, who was kept in solitary confinement by her biological parents for ten years in Fagge Local Government area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the state, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa in a statement yesterday said the victim was rescued at her family house at Darerawa quarters in Fagge Local Government area.
He said the victim was locked by her father, Mohammed Jibrin and mother, Rabi Mohammed for ten years without proper care.
According to Kiyawa, the victim was set free following a tip off by some good Samaritans in the area.
On receipt of the report, according to the PPRO, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko, raised and instructed a Medical Team and a team of detectives to proceed to the scene, rescue the victim and arrest the culprits.
The teams immediately swung into action and rescued the victim in a harsh condition, adding that she was rushed to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital where she was admitted.
He added that one of the suspects, 35-year old Rabi Mohammed, believed to be the mother of the girl was arrested while the father had fled.
“Effort is in progress to arrest the father of the victim who is currently at large. However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sama’ila Shu’aibu Dikko (Nagari-Nakowa) ordered that case be transferred to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department for discrete investigation,” the statement added.
