Kano State government has approved the sum of N26million for the state’s fire service for procurement of uniform materials and communication gadgets.
Acting Director, Kano State Fire Service, Balarabe Habu Kabara, disclosed this while addressing the staff during an inspection tour to Takai, Kibiya and Rano fire stations, yesterday.
According to him, N19,900,250 has been earmarked for purchase of complete set of uniform, including the ceremonial dress, for the 1200 staff in the state, while N6,135,000 is for purchase of 22 communication gadgets for the whole 22 fire stations across the state.
“The state government has approved the sum of N26, 35,000 for the purchase of uniforms and communication gadgets to our staff. The government has also approved some amount for the repair of the 8 fire engines. This development is to boost the services of the fire brigade in the state, and to encourage our staff on maximum output in the service. Therefore, I call on you to make proper use of this equipment.”
He commended the State Governor, Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, for the quick response, stating that “the governor has quickly responded to our request, because we are in need of new uniforms and our grounded fire engines are in urgent need of repair. Therefore, we must commend the governor for coming to our aid”, he said.
Asked if there were plans on ground to change the colour of the uniform, Mr. Kabara said the existing black colour uniform will be maintained.
