Kankara Local Government Chairman, Alhaji Abdulhadi Abdullahi Kankara in Katsina State yesterday donated five computers with printers to Nigerian Union of Journalists, Kaduna state Chapter.
He said he was in Kaduna to donate the computers because the state was once the capital of northern region.
“ We believe journalists can promote peace anywhere and they can also create crisis or confusion anywhere. So, we urge you to please always report objectively,” he said.
The LG boss also called on Journalists to pay more attention to the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, particularly northern Nigeria, adding that media practitioners have greater role to play to bring back peace to the region.
He described journalists as leaders because people respect and trust whatever they say.
Alhaji Abdullahi Kankara commended the Katsina State Governor, Ibrahim Shehu Shema for transforming the state to greater height.
In his response, Kaduna State NUJ Chairman Comrade Yusuf Idris thanked the chairman for the gesture, saying “We have a total of 23 LGs in Kaduna state but none of them ever deemed it fit to donate computers to us,” he said.
