Kaduna to partner NAWOJ on girl-child education

Kaduna state government has promised to partner the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) on girl-child education in the state, the state’s Commissioner of Education, Ibrahim Ali has said.

The commissioner stated this on Wednesday, when he received the newly elected NAWOJ’s national zonal secretary, North-West, Hajiya Daharatu Ahmed Aliyu, a staff of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), who was in his office on a courtesy visit.

Hon. Ali, who expressed happiness over her emergence, urged her to discharge her duties responsibly, pledging the support of the state in

whatever form possible, to see to her success.

He, however, said the NAWOJ will be a veritable tool to use in addressing girl-child education in the state, in terms of creating awareness and sensitisation on the importance of girl-child education.

Towards this end, the commissioner said, “As a state, we will be ready to partner the NAWOJ on efforts at addressing girl-child education in the state; we hope when we call on you (NAWOJ) in that regard, you will answer us accordingly.

“As journalists, you can also assist in embarking on necessary sensitizations and also create the required awareness on the girl-child education”, he added.

Speaking further, he said, “As a state, we are proud of your success and will certainly assist you to succeed in the discharge of your responsibilities. May God see you through; our doors will always be opened for you at anytime” he assured.

Earlier in her address, the newly elected national zonal secretary said she came with her team basically to appreciate the Commissioner and the Ministry for the assistance rendered her during the contest.
