Kaduna stands still as Buhari supporters take over major streets

Kaduna yesterday stood at still as the campaign train of the All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential

candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari stormed the town in the continuation of the nationwide campaign tour.

As early as 8: am faithful party supporters trooped out in their thousands to Muritala Muhammed square the venue of the campaign.

Major road leading to the venue was jam packed as security agents stationed by the roadsides watched from a distance as the mammoth crowd took over the streets.

Major streets like Waff road, Alkali road, Ahmadu Bello way, Isa Kaita way and Yakubu Gowan way were temporarily taken over by the APC supporters who carried the posters and banners of the party presidential and governorship candidates in the state.

Business activities were temporarily disrupted as business premises were shut down in order for owners who are APC supporters to witness the rally.

Some party supporters also disclosed that they trekked long distance in order to participate in the rally.

Other party supporters also disclosed to this reporters that they walk all the way from Kakuri and Sabo Tasha in Kaduna South and Chikun Local Government respectively to the venue because of their belief in the APC presidential candidate.

A Chieftain of the party in Kaduna State, the Dr. Hakeem Baba –Ahmed said he was not surprised at the huge crowd that came out to receive the APC presidential flag bearer because it is more of a home coming for General Buhari.

There was also unconfirmed report that two supporters of the party lost their lives when their tricycles collided with another coming motorcycle along Independent Way in the state.

While addressing the crowd, General Buhari assured them that his administration will give security, youth unemployment and fight against corruption

He said the fight against corruption, insecurity and youth unemployment was top priority if he came into power come February.

“If you vote APC, you are not doing anybody a favour, but yourself, because we are going to revive schools and equip them, revive hospitals and equip them and we are going to provide jobs within two years of our administration”.
