Kaduna Police parade one soldier, 37 other suspects for kidnapping, armed robbery

The Kaduna State Police Command yesterday paraded one Sargent Garba Musa of Nigeria Army and 37 others for various crimes ranging from kidnapping, armed robbery and belonging to criminal gangs.
While parading the suspects before newsmen, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Austin Iwar, said that the Sargent, in company of one Abubakar Suleiman of Hayin Dan Mani in Igabi Local Government Area of the state criminally conspired and kidnapped an 11 years old girl and later strangled her to death when the demanded ransom was not paid.
The CP said the police received a distressed call when the corpse of the 11 years old girl was found where it was abandoned; and immediately a discreet and thorough investigation was carried out which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
He said: “However, the Sargent was handed over to the military for disciplinary action after which he will be returned to the police for further investigation and prosecution.”
Mr. Iwar further said a significant breakthrough was recorded in the arrest of a notorious armed robber Umar Hussaini of Dumbin Dutse Village in Zaria Local Government Area.
The suspect according to him belongs to armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Kaduna – Zaria – Kano express road. He explained that Umar Hussaini was arrested after a fierce gun duel with operatives attached to State Anti-Robbery Squads (SARS) and Safer High way.
“He confessed to have been involved in series of armed robberies along the said axis. Effort is on to apprehend the rest of the gang members at large.”
“In a related development six kidnapped for ransom suspects were arrested who are terrorizing/operating in Lere and Pambegua axis in Kubau Local Government Area.
The suspects who are now in custody have made useful statements which are aiding police investigations.
