The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youth Leader in Kaduna State, Hon. Boniface Garba has been accused of extorting monies from political office seekers in the recently concluded election.
The PDP Integrity Group in Sanga Local Government Area stated this in a press release made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The statement jointly signed by thirty-seven members of the group stated that it is registering its grievances over the unbecoming tendencies of the youth leader which arises as a result of his reckless handling of party affairs in Sanga local government where he used his office to extort monies from various political office seekers running into tens of millions of Naira.
The statement gave the breakdown of the alleged monies collected to includes N5,900,000 from Dr. and Mrs. Ishaya Habu, Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim N1,500,000; Senator Nenadi Usman, N10million, Hon. Danjuma La’ah, N10million and Barr. Mark Jacob, N4million.
The statement added that in view of this disgraceful act of the youth leader, party loyalists from his local government area Sanga called for his immediate removal from office if the party is to emerge victorious in the area.
“We need someone who is trustworthy enough to restore the confidence of the constituents and bring back the defected party members by carrying everybody on board in order to achieve total victory,” the statement added.
However, in a swift reaction, Hon. Tank Rossi Sabo the Special Assistant to Kaduna State Governor on Media, who’s also from Sanga local government area described the PDP Integrity Group as nonexistent, saying the statement is defamatory and malicious.
According to him, Hon. Boniface Garba has been a pillar of success of PDP in Sanga local government and those calling for his removal are people who have no saying in the party affairs.
“When I heard of the press statement, I chose to react to it not because I want to save Hon. Boniface Garba but to save the petitioners from the wrath of the people of Sanga local government who see them as betrayers and sellout. They’ve started calling me and threatening to mete out justice on them, but we’ve been trying to persuade them to desist from taking law into their hands.
