Kaduna officials warn pilgrims against excess luggage

Kaduna state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board’s Overseer, Alhaji Kabir Kasim yesterday warned pilgrims in the Holy Land against exceeding the officially-approved luggage policy for both main and hand luggage.

According to him, this year the board would make sure that all pilgrims’ luggage didn’t exceed the official policy.

He disclosed this at a maiden meeting with all the state Hajj officials in Makkah, as they strategize on how to transport all their pilgrims to Muna for the commencement of hajj exercise proper.

The overseer who spoke through his Director Operation Malam ABDULLAHI Umar Kagarko said the foreign airline that conveyed their pilgrims to holy land said they will not transport any luggage that exceeds the official kilogrammes.

“To avoid embarrassment please we are appealing to our pilgrim officers to kindly inform to kindly explained to their pilgrims that it will no longer be business as usual because no luggage would be allowed to pass the airport if its exceeds the official approved kg. our main luggage is 32 kg while the hand luggage is 8 kg. We hope they will respect themselves and abide by the rules,” he said.

In his remark, the state Amirul Hajj for 2014. Malam Rabiu Bako urged state pilgrims to pray for Nigeria and Kaduna State saying ” we all know the situation in Nigeria , so we need to pray for its peace and stability because the country needs prayer more than ever,” he said.

He thanked Allah for making the state overcome all the challenges with regards to Hajj preparation, particularly the visa problem.

Alhaji Rabiu Bako further tasked the State appointed officials to fear Allah and discharged their duties effectively as he also thanked the state governor Muktar Ramalan Yero for all the support and cooperation given to the leadership of the board.
