Kaduna State Coordinator, of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC Mr. Hilary Nasamu has said the Corp chose to have a low key passing out parade for the 2013 batch ‘C’ members posted to Kaduna state because of the prevailing security situation in the country, especially in the North.
He disclosed this yesterday, while speaking to the media after a brief passing out parade held in Kaduna. Nasamu also disclosed that seven out of 2,343 batch ‘C’ members who completed their one year mandatory national service were to repeat the service year based on their period of absence from the service without allowance.
According to him, four of them, who absconded for three months, were to repeat service totally while the other three that missed the service for cumulative period of two months and below would serve the period of extension double the number of days they were absent. This, the coordinator said, was to serve as deterrent to others in the future.
Meanwhile, Miss Jigide Nwamaka, who built and equipped a library at Government Secondary school, Yaka-suwa village, Lere local government area of the state, emerged overall best out of seven corps members that were recommended for prestigious state award due to their outstanding performance during the service year.
