Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-rufa’i has threatened to sue Peoples Democratic Party for alleged cheating during the Local government elections.
The governor said PDP is known for cheating and rigging elections.
According to him, the four Local government Areas claimed to have been won by PDP will be investigated.
El’rufai made the pronouncement during the state Party executives meeting held at the APC Congress in Kaduna.
El-rufai described APC as a party of Justice that will never change the peoples’ mandate. According to him, people should be given the opportunity to choose which party they want to govern them at the local government level.
He said APC, during the Local government Election, did what PDP has never done to any other political party during their tenure.
“We went the extra ordinary length to purchase the electronic Voting Machine EVM, so that the elections will be free and fair.
“We did what the PDP has never done to any other party. We gave them what they don’t know, we gave them justice. Unfortunately, even with that justice they tried to cheat.
“We are going to challenge the chairmanship they said they won at the tribunal. We already have fourteen, for the remaining 5 we want to have 14 plus 5,” he said.
He assured the party supporters in the state that if they stay together, unite and work hard the remaining 5 Local government will be warned by APC.
“Remember we are dealing with PDP people who are not honest. They don’t know the meaning of honesty, integrity, fairness. It has been taken away from their vocabulary for the last 16 years. So we must be prepared. We want to play fair, but they don’t know the meaning of fairness.
“We must not sleep, but be prepared, mobilize to the remaining local government and make sure we are not cheated; but we will not cheat anybody. We want the votes of the people to count,” he said.
The newly elected APC Chairman, Retired Air Commandore Emmanuel Jekada in his remarks thanked the state government and the party supporters for a peaceful congress. He assured the governor of victory come 2019.
PDP rejected the LG results as fraud. The party chairman Joseph Hyet said the party will challenge the APC victory in court.
