Kaduna state Governor’ Mallam Nasir El Rufai has said the state is committed to partnering with agencies such as SMEDAN to come up with other ways of creating employment opportunities especially among the youth by engaging them in skills acquisition programmes that will make them self-reliant, which will in turn reduce the level of poverty.
He stated this in his address he delivered at a SMEDAN Talent Hunts in Fashion, Arts and Crafts held in Kaduna.
Acccording to him the idea of this talent hunt programme which is aimed at discovering hidden talents, identifying and showcasing innovative ideas in fashion, arts and crafts could not have come at a better time, especially now that the Government is looking at ways to improve and expand the development of the State’s economy and revenue drive.
The Governor who was represented by his Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Tourism Ruth Alkali commended the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) for this initiative which he said will go a long way in contributing to the development of the economy of the state.
The Governor urged the participants to take advantage of this opportunity to develop and harness their skills and be the best they can be, by working hard to ensure that you become successful and self-reliant In his remark, Director General of SMEDAN Dikko Umaru Radda, said the programme is designed towards discovering hidden talents and showcasing innovative talents in Fashion, Arts & Craft.
