In its continued efforts to improve power supply by upgrading its network infrastructure, Kaduna Electric has in collaboration with its contractors installed over 130 new distribution transformers worth millions of naira for use by individuals, organizations and various communities under its franchise this year.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communication of the company, Abdulazeez Abdullahi.
The statement added that the newly installed transformers were in addition to hundreds of transformers installed by Kaduna electric since it took over the company.
“This year alone, across our franchise states, we installed 91 transformers in Kaduna, 12 transformers in Kebbi, 11 transformers in Sokoto and 16 transformers in Zamfara state. The new transformers installed added over 30 megawatts capacity to our network thereby increasing our service delivery to the beneficiary communities”.
The company through the statement also said the company has put in place quality checks before any work is done on the network.
“We have strict procedures that contractors must follow before we allow them to work on our network. First, they must be accredited electrical contractors, the application process is online and we carry out pre installation inspection and post installation inspection before adding any distribution transformer to our network”, it said.
The statement decried the increasing spate of vandalism of distribution transformers, with the company loosing over 50 million worth of equipment’s to vandals. He also called on customers to be more vigilant of electricity installation and reciprocate the gesture by paying their electricity bills promptly.
