A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Yusuf Ali, has warned against plot to drag the name of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, in the mud over former Emir Muhammad Sanusi saga.
He stated this in a statement made available to the media in kaduna yesterday.
Yusuf Ali described the Kano State Chapter of the party as a bunch of thankless entity, saying they forget quickly how governor El-Rufai contributed to the progress of the party in Kano.
“We read the sad commentary by one Shehu Maigari from the APC Office in Kano, who struggled on the pages of some newspapers to disparage Governor El-Rufai for showing love and support to his friend, the former Emir of Kano, High Royal Majesty, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
“This clearly shows that supporting the Kano APC is like casting pearls before swine, who will certainly not appreciate or recognize the efforts and role El-Rufai played in the most difficult moment in the life of the party in Kano in 2019.
“Today, it’s convenient for the Kano APC to call El-Rufai names while ignoring that he spared no effort in ensuring that Ganduje retains his seat as the elected governor of Kano in 2019 even when the odds were against him.
“But instead of showing gratitude to people like El-Rufai, the minions in the Kano APC are now busy castigating him for overflowing with the milk of human kindness towards his long term friend and associate, the former Emir, who was dethroned from his exalted seat in a fit of jealousy and nothing else”.
Ali said the APC in Kano as presently constituted had actually played no any significant role in the emergence of APC as the ruling party in Kano and Nigeria in 2015 but it was the untiring effort of people like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, El-Rufai, and others across Nigeria who pulled resources together to ensure that APC won in Kano and other states as well as at the federal level.
“Let’s go down memory lane. The emergence of APC as the ruling party in Nigeria and Kano State in 2015 had no any contribution from the likes of Ganduje and his supporters because at that time they were mere lackeys who were holding the bag for Kwankwaso.
“But El-Rufai at that time was a dominant figure in politics and one of its pillars having served as the Secretary of the defunct CPC that merged with other parties to form the APC.
“Going by this history, Ganduje and his supporters who were beneficiaries of the effort of people like El-Rufai have no moral authority to describe him as hobnobbing with ‘PDP sympathizer’, he said.
Ali said nothing will deter El-Rufai from supporting his Royal Majesty or any other person for that matter who shares his ideology.
“Certainly those who eat from the crumbs in Kano APC cannot pretend to be insulting a leader like El-Rufai who made his marks in the political and administrative landscape of Nigeria while they were mere cheerleaders and spectators on the sideline of politics”. he said.
