The Plateau State Council of Ulama, has condemned in strong terms the recurrence of civil unrest bedeviling some parts of Jos, the state capital.
Chairman of the Council Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir who made the call yesterday in a press briefing held at his office, after the Council meeting also called for calm.
“We first of all condemned the acts of those People that are peddling trouble among People, just to achieve their henious acts, “ Sheik Jingir said.
The Council noted the recent call on residents to protect themselves by byormer governor Jang, discribing it as an unfortunate especially for eople who have held security positions in the country.
“A situation whereby a person that had once held Governorship position is calling on People to carry arms and perpetuate crime, we condemned in strong terms such idea.
“we are calling on all politicians and other people to fear Allah, to desist from formenting trouble that is capable of wreaking havoc on our country.
“As politician you should seek position from the will of Allah, and not by formenting crisis,” it added.
The council said Government should intensify its efforts on security, to curtail the crises situation, adding that more personnel should be recruited and intensify their training, it added that the issue of persons, “disguising in fake security uniforms, killing people are apprehended, because it is a cause for worry and concerned to us.”
It said the crises situation should not in any way distract Government attention from dealing with those people blocking roads and killing innocent persons, stressing that the situation should also not deterred Government from investigating those under investigations.
The Council said a lot of its members are devastated and need emergency relief materials, “they need foods, they need shelter because their houses were burnt down.”
It vehemently admonished youths to desist from carrying arms or waging attacks on any persons or properties.
The Council also admonished clerics to preach peace to all.
“We commend the security operatives for their prompt respond in deploying personnel where needed, and we also commend President Muhammadu Buhari and all peace loving Governors for their efforts,” it said.
