The Hausa community in Jos-North local government has fixed Saturday, June 7 for launching an Endowment Fund for the upkeep of the family of a victim of the recent Jos bomb blast.
The victim, Alhaji Bello Ahmed, was killed alongside his friend, Alhaji Auwalu Yusi, in the third bomb blast that occurred recently at Bauchi road near Red Cross International office.
Ahmed was said to have prevented the suicide bomber from gaining access to the football viewing centre in the community, where over 700 viewers were watching the EUFA Champion League final match between Real Madrid and ATL Madrid.
The community spokesman, Alhaji SadiqMassalla, said that preparations were being made to ensure the success of the launch of the Endowment Fund.
“Ahmed died a heroic death, having sacrificed his life to save the over 700 football viewers who were watching the EUFA Champion’s League final match between Real Madrid and ATL Madrid.
“He left a large family behind and we, in this community, deemed it wise to do something to bring succor to his family. He did not only prevented the bomber from gaining access to the viewing centre, he gave his life for others.
“The endowment launch will be held at the very spot of the blast at 10.00am of Saturday, June 7,’’ Massalla said.
