Jonathan vows to end insurgency in two weeks

President Goodluck Jonathan has assured that his government will take proactive measures aimed at ending insurgency ravaging north east States of the country within a couple of two weeks.
Jonathan gave the assurance yesterday in llorin, Kwara State capital during a courtesy call on the Emir of llorin, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari in his palace.
The President who was in the State in continuation of his campaign tour, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to end the incessant security challenges.
He said several measures are underway to make issue of insurgency a thing of the past and reaffirmed the determination of his administration to continue embarking on measures that would improve the well-being of Nigerians.
He disclosed that his government had embarked on various transformation programme in the last four years, adding that he would continue if re-elected in next month general elections.
Responding, the Emir, Alhaji lbrahim Sulu-Gambari urged President Jonathan to find ways of ending insurgency in some parts of the country.
The monarch noted that no meaningful development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos and acrimony.
The traditional ruler prayed for successful polls and for peace, unity and progress to reign in the country as well as praying for the success of the President at the polls in his bid to further transform Nigeria.
President Jonathan was accompanied to the palace by the Minister of National planing, Dr. Abubakar Sulaiman and other top government functionaries.
In his own remarks, Vice President Namadi Sambo declared that President Jonathan was the most qualified for the post among all the candidates as he was a Deputy Governor, Governor, VP and eventually President.
According to the VP, Dr. Jonathan has done much for the country to deserve a second term as President, stressing that before 2011, there were 6,000 kilometres of asphalt roads in the country, “but President Jonathan has added 20, 000 kilometres roads since 2011 and plan to add another 20, 000 kilometres if re-elected.
Sambo also hinted that the President established 12 new universities within four years, adding that no government has ever done this in the country.
PDP National chairman, Dr. Adamu Muazu in his speech said President Jonathan has removed fraud in the agriculture sector as farmer now have access to fertilisers, chemicals and seedlings.
His words: “President Jonathan has achieved what other nations of Africa has not achieved. Today, Nigeria is the best economy in Africa”.
He urged the people to vote for President Jonathan and Senator Simeon Ajibola for the President to make the Nigeria economy the best in the world.
The national chairman later presented the party flag to the governorship flag bearer, Senator Ajibola and his running mate, Alhaji Yinka Aluko.
In his remarks, PDP governorship candidate, Senator Ajibola called on the people of the State to vote massively for the President and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He specifically thanked the President for the love he has for the State, assuring Mr. President that Kwara people would pay him back with their votes during February 14 Presidential election.
He further appealed to the people of the State to collect their PVC and guide it well as it was their only weapon to vote out the “usurpers of the Government House” in the State.
Senate President, David mark, predicted that the President would record the highest votes in North Central zone of the country during February 14th polls.
He also assured the President that PDP would reclaim Kwara and Nasarawa States saying the two States belonged to PDP.
