President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday has promised to develop the economy of Zamfara state through construction of conventional airport if re-elected into office.
Goodluck, who was in Gusau, the state capital to seek for the second mandate assured that, the contract for the construction of the befitting airport would be awarded among the prioritised goals as soon as he is given chance to lead again.
Among other promises made by the President were, enhancing the functions of Bakolori dam with a view to provide lot of jobs to make a threatening figure of unemployed youth across the state a history.
He said the dam if utilised, is capable of providing not only the northern region, but would serve as a food basket to the nation at large, stressing further, that the project was considered as one of the people’s major sources of livelihood.
Earlier, the PDP gubernatorial candidate of the state, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi, called on the people of the state to block their listening ears against any politician trying to destroy the perfect unity among the good citizens of the state, who thought could not win the hearts of people without bringing religious differences.
Shinkafi urged the people of the state to remain patience with hardship they were unnecessarily compelled into, promising that, his administration will give priority in both capital projects and people’s welfare so as to ensure total fight against prevailing poverty in the state.
