President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday confirmed Suleiman Abba as substantive Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The President’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati made this disclosure via his Twitter handle @abati1990 yesterday. According to him, “At Police Council meeting today, President Jonathan confirmed Suleiman Abba as substantive Inspector General of Police.”
It could be recalled that Abba was appointed the acting IGP on August 1 after the retirement of the ex-Police chief, Mohammed Abubakar.
Meanwhile, the newly confirmed Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has promised to work towards making Nigeria a safer place to live.
Speaking shortly after being confirmed by the Police Council at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday, he expressed happiness over the development and promised to work towards meeting the expectations of Nigerians.
On the criticism trailing his withdrawal of police details attached to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, Abba declined comment saying, “well, that is a matter before the court and is prejudice for me to comment on it. I wouldn’t want to have any problem with the judiciary”.
