Governorship candidate of the All Progress Congress (APC) in Benue State, Barr. Emmanuel Jime, has pledged to swiftly, address the problems of Petroleum Tanker Drivers, a branch of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Benue State chapter, as soon as he assumed office as Governor of the State.
The governorship hopeful, expressed optimism, that the tribunal, up to the appellate courts, will declare him winner of the governorship election, that held in March this year.
The independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), though declared Dr. Samuel Ortom of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winner, the APC and its candidate, are contesting the outcome at the tribunal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State.
“I will immediately swing to action on the problems associated with petroleum tanker driving in Benue State, as soon as I assume office, by the grace of God.
“But I am a lawyer, so I have a long view, that this battle to recover our victory through the courts, will go up to the Supreme Court, so I will ask you to continue praying for my victory at the Courts”, he said yesterday at his Abuja office.
The former member of the House of Representatives (2007-2015), was elated by the group’s courtesy visit, describing the gesture, as an act of love.
He thanked the delegation, led by Comrade Joseph Gungul, for their support and unwavering encouragement.
Earlier, the Chairman of the the PTD, Benue branch, Comrade Gungul, expressed optimism that Hon. Jime “will retrieve his mandate at the court”.
He buttressed the need for sacrifice in the pursuit of that mission, pledging his group’s tenacity in their support for Jime’s efforts in that direction.
Recall that the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Makurdi, had adjourned last week for September 11th, to adopt written addresses of parties to Jime’s petition against INEC’s declaration of Ortom as winner of that contest in March.
