Following the petroleum scarcity being experienced across the state, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Jigawa, at the weekend said that it had arrested four suspects in Dutse local government area for alleged illegal marketing of petroleum motor spirit (PMS).
The NSCDC commandant in the state, Mr. Muhammad Gidado, told newsmen in Dutse that the suspects were arrested on the Kiyawa road by NSCDC officers who were on patrol of the area.
He explained that the suspects were arrested in a Toyota bus, with registration number XC 430 DUT, which was fully loaded with 19 jerry cans, containing 25 litres of PMS each.
Gidado listed the suspects as Shehu Yakubu (the driver), Auwalu Sulaiman, Alkasim Muktar and Sulaiman Rabi’u.
The Commandant said that when interrogated, the suspects could not give any satisfac explanation about the originality of the commodity.
According to him, investigation into the case has commenced to ascertain the originality of the PMS.
“We have commenced investigation into the case and if the suspects are found culpable, they will be charged to court immediately”, he said.
