The Jigawa State Emirate Council has assured support to a nongovernmental organisation known as Dispute Resolution and Development Initiatives (DAG) on fight against corruption in the state.
The Chairman of the Council and Emir of Hadeja, Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje who was represented by Wazirin Hadeja Alhaji Haruna Amar gave the assurance when the organisation’s team paid an advocacy visit to the emirates.
He explained that, thetraditional leaders in the state are always ready to support any move that would help in fight against corruption at any level in the state.
The emir maintained that, as fathers to the communities they would do all their best to involve citizens in fight against corruption through providing the useful information for a better Jigawa state.
While making his remarks during the visit, the national executive director of the organisation Dr Mohammad Mustapha Yahaya said, the organisation is in the palace to seek for royal fathers support on anti-corruption campaign in the state.
According to him, involvement of traditional rulers in anti-corruption campaign is best way to reduce the level of corruptions in Nigeria.
“Our traditional fathers can help in anti-corruption campaign by getting the community involved through the formation of clubs and other platforms aimed at preventing corruptions practices in the state” he said.
Dr Yahaya maintained that, through the formation of clubs and other platforms encourage by the chiefdom would easily promote information dissemination on matters related to corruption in the communities.
He then said, the objective of the project is to engage the traditional leaders and other state and non-state actors to promote and advocate for effective anti-corruption campaign in the state.
