Jigawa: Assembly approves N1.7bn supplementary budget

The Jigawa state house of assembly has yesterday passed and approved one billion and seven hundred million naira as supplementary budget for the state executive.

Speaking while presiding over the house sitting yesterday the speaker of the house, Hon Adamu Ahmad requested for deliberation on the report of the joint committee on finance and public accounts, on the

implementation of the state appropriation law 2014 and proposal for adjustment there in .

The committee report presented to the house stated that, “the document sent by His Excellency, Governor Sule Lamido seek the house approval for transfer of N1.700,000,000 from the stabilization fund appropriated in the state budget to the on-going Airport project embarked upon by the state government”.

The report explained that, “the money will be used to bridge the funding gap in the initial budget allocation for the airport project”.

According to report, “If the house approve the transfer, the money will be used in purchasing Airport relevant equipment that include special fire tender truck, baggage handling system, security scanning machine, check-in counters and airfield lightening system among others.

The house after deliberation had unanimously passed the report without any alteration, which consequently gave the state government the go ahead to transfer the money.
