The Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki said the congratulatory messages over his supreme court victory by the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and the Candidate of the party in the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, call for vigilance.
Oshiomhole in a congratulatory letter urged the Governor to be generous in victory while Ize-Iyamu in his congratulatory message to Obaseki, demanded for the reinstatement of sacked Local Government Chairmen and Councillors and the 14 Edo State House of Assembly members-elect whose seats had been declared vacant.
Addressing a large gathering at Benin airport in Benin City, the State Capital, on Tuesday as part of the celebration to mark Friday’s Supreme Court victory Obaseki said, the letters are full of tricks.
Obaseki stated that he was yet to receive an original copy of the letters signed by the duo, but admitted that his victory signals an end to godfathers in the State and freedom for Edo people.
According to him, Edo will never fall for such cheap messages called congratulatory letters, they are not serious, ‘na today, na today we do election, na today we win’. They are full of tricks.

“The APC in Abuja is being run just like what they did in Edo when they were in power in Edo State. There is a problem in Nigeria. The country has money but until we change our mind set that taxpayers money must be used to work for the people and not for very few. We have to pray that what happened in Edo will happen in Abuja.
“The only party that has the right people for the job is the People Democratic Party (PDP) come 2023. Forward ever, backward never”, Edo must move forward, he said.
