Following rumours making the rounds, suggesting that the present acting governor of Taraba State, Alhaji Danladi, is throwing his support behind the Taraba All Progressives Congress ( APC) candidate, Sen. Aisha Jummai Ali, the acting governor has dispelled such rumour, saying it was not true.
According to Danladi, the said rumour was hatched when Sen. Aisha was seen with many people at the Taraba State airport while receiving the acting governor on his return to the state from Abuja, last month.
The acting governor, who reacted yesterday on the Hausa Service of Voice of America monitored in Jos, contended that he is for the people of the state irrespective of the person’s affiliation to any party, even though he is a PDP member.
He added that if seeing Aisha at the airport was the basis of the rumour and allegation, virtually every member of the various political parties in the state was there at the airport to welcome him.
He said, “I am for the people of Taraba. I have no connection with the APC. I am still in the PDP because I became deputy governor two times on the platform of the PDP.”
On the rumour that he is fighting for the PDP governorship ticket, Danladi denied, saying, “No, it is not true. Serving two times as deputy governor is ok for me. I don’t want any elective position. Others should also test it. ”
