Jigawa State Government has declared Tuesday, September, 11, as public holiday to mark the beginning of the Islamic New Year, 1440 after Hijrah(AH).
This was contained in a statement signed by the Isma’il Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer, Office of the State Head of the Civil Service, Jigawa State and issued to news men yesterday in Dutse, the state capital.
According to the statement, the government congratulated Muslims faithful in the State and around the world for witnessing the new Year, which commences in the month of Muharram, the first month in the Lunar Islamic calendar.
The statement urged the people of the State to reflect and live their lives based on the teachings of Islam and Practice of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
According to the statement, during the holy day, it is expected that all public servants and the entire people of the state will pray to Almighty Allah for continued peace, economic prosperity of the state and Nigeria, and be law abide citizens.
